Workshop Controller
Job Location: Ferndown, Dorset
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £38,000 per annum
Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm
We are currently recruiting for a Workshop Controller for a busy & well-established family run business.
Within this role you will be key to ensuring the effective communication between the service team & technicians ensuring that customer works are carried out effectively and on time.
The role will see you greeting customers to book in their vehicles, ensuring parts are ready for the days jobs, technicians’ workloads are allocated, dealing with any queries between the departments.
We are looking for someone who has previous vehicle mechanics experience, in order to have an understanding of the works being carried out and also undertaking quality control checks of vehicles.
Key duties:
- Assist in organising and overseeing the day to day running of the workshop
- Communicating with the Service department and providing regular updates of ongoing workshop activities
- Ensuring all parts are ready for the technicians.
- Ensure that all jobs are being undertaken in a professional and correct manner.
- Carrying out quality control checks
- Ensure the vehicles are accessible when needed for repair and collection.
- Be the first point of escalation for any technical queries
- Ensuring all the workshop tools and equipment are in good working order
Requirements needed for the role:
- A positive and enthusiastic mindset with a real ‘can do’ attitude and strong team work ethic
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous experience within vehicle mechanics to be able to promote high standards
- Be able to assist with driving a HGV licence would be an advantage
- Always approachable and helpful
- Methodical and organised
- Ability to problem solve and remain resilient and determined
